Die Mitarbeit in der GND erfolgt entweder über Verbünde oder nach direkter Absprache mit der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek.\n\nDie OGND bietet Zugriff auf die GND (Gemeinsame Normdatei), in der die bisherigen Normdateien Personennamendatei (PND), Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) und Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei (GKD) sowie die Einheitssachtitel-Datei des Deutschen Musikarchivs in einer gemeinsamen Normdatei (GND) zusammengeführt wurden. Die OGND wird online aus der GND der Katalogisierungsdatenbank des Südwestdeutschen Bibliotheksverbundes (SWB) aktualisiert.
